Singapore, 30 October 2022 – PAP Community Foundation (PCF) Sparkletots launched the second Future Ready Fair today at Our Tampines Hub. The 2022 edition returns as an in-person event at three physical locations across the island. The Future Ready Fair 2022 will showcase PCF Sparkletots’ curriculum, its STEMIE (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Invention and Entrepreneurship) programme and the various inventions by the PCF Sparkletots children.

The official launch was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information, Second Minister for Home Affairs, and Council Chairman, PCF Council of Management.

The Future Ready Fair 2022 will be held at Our Tampines Hub, The Plaza @ National Library Building and Canopy @ JLink across three weekends from 29 October to 12 November. The fair showcases more than 66 inventions from PCF Sparkletots children such as the Splatter-Stopper by Lau Yan Lam Natalie from PCF Sparkletots @ Fengshan Blk 184 and a sticky read tack invention by Syed Shuaib from PCF @ Eunos Blk 629. • Intergenerational Programme – building connections between children and the seniors
  • Outdoor Learning – encourage learning beyond the walls of the classrooms
  • Tech Enabled Learning – equipping our children to be digital natives of the future
  • Joy of Reading – nurturing a love for reading and languages
  • Mother Tongue Languages – instil love and appreciation for the culture and ethnic values of every child and their peers

Nurturing future-ready children at PCF Sparkletots

The STEMIE programme was piloted in 2018 across 12 preschools to challenge children to think creatively and invent practical solutions to real-world problems. Currently, 180 PCF Sparkletots preschool centres include the STEMIE programme as part of their fixed curriculum hours, with plans to increase this number to 320 centres by 2024. The STEMIE programme will be extended to all PCF Sparkletots preschool centres offering kindergarten services, with up to 50,000 children expected to benefit from this extension.

“We are delighted to be able to physically showcase the creations of our children in the community and hear directly from them on the ideation and development processes that went behind each invention. These inventions are a result of our STEMIE lessons at PCF Sparkletots, where our teachers engage our children in critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing them to be changemakers in the real world. As a leader in the early childhood education sector, we are dedicated to providing quality and accessible education for every child, enabling them to be resilient individuals and creative thinkers of the future,” said Victor Bay, CEO, PCF.

Other programmes aside from STEMIE that will be featured at the Future Ready 2022 include Tech Toys, Outdoor Learning and Intergenerational Programmes by PCF Sparkletots.
