What better way to celebrate National Day than with the dish that perfectly describes us as a nation? 🇸🇬 The word ‘rojak’ in Malay means ‘eclectic mixture’ which also reflects the cultural diversity of Singapore.

Serves: 4-5 people

Ingredients:

1 small Jicama, thinly sliced
1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
1 large red/green apple, sliced
12-15 pieces of cherry tomato
¼ fresh pineapple, sliced
2 tablespoon unsalted roasted peanut, crushed

Rojak Sauce:

1 to 1.5 tablespoon plum sauce
3 tablespoon assam mixture (2 teaspoon assam paste dissolved in 3 tablespoon of water)
2 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the rojak sauce by mixing plum sauce, assam mixture and lemon juice and mix well.
  2. Add in the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  3. Sprinkle rojak with crushed peanuts.
  4. Ready to serve.

Cooking Tips & Suggestions

You can add any fruits and vegetables of your preference. Squeeze a wedge of lemon juice over the chopped apples to prevent browning during the preparation process!
