I’m Cathay Tan, an early childhood educator with over 15 years of experience. 

As a centre leader, I do my best to guide and inspire my team to continuously enhance their skills and professional development to provide a nurturing environment where learning is a joy for children. 

I emphasise building strong relationships with parents and the community, recognising that these connections are essential for nurturing children’s holistic development.

As Centre Principal, I actively collaborate with the community. We provide many opportunities for children to embrace the values of compassion. For example, my centre annually organises Kindness Week with the Bishan Community Club to collect food for the needy and less fortunate in Bishan–Toa Payoh GRC. We also create crafts and perform for seniors at Bishan Lions Nursing Home. Additionally, we purposefully organise projects and events such as Entrepreneur Day and Children’s Day Carnival to enhance children’s financial literacy and raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

My centre achieved SPARK accreditation in 2014, 2017, and 2020, which is a testament to my team’s commitment to preschool quality standards.
